Job Summary


Adjunct faculty are employed as instructors as needed for specific courses. They are considered to be temporary employees and may or may not be continuously employed quarter to quarter depending on need. Adjunct faculty members generally teach one or two courses per term (or the clinical equivalent) depending upon class enrollments and credit hours associated with the course. Adjunct faculty are not eligible for promotion and are not required to serve on committees, attend meetings except for faculty meetings, develop curriculum or advise students unless specifically compensated for the duty. They fulfill the job duties of an adjunct faculty member as described in the Faculty Supplement to the Employee Handbook.


SUPERVISOR: Program Director/ Dean Academic Affairs and Operations


KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Eighteen graduate semester hours in field (or the equivalent) and a master's degree in field from a regionally accredited university. A terminal degree (usually the Ph.D.) is preferred and in some cases may be required. For example, faculty teaching in a master's or doctoral level program are required to have the terminal degree


Prior teaching experience in a college or university setting; practical experience in the particular teaching field


Makes students and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; creates and/or implements student-focused processes and procedures
