California State University Dominguez Hills was established in 1960 and is one of the 23 campuses that comprise The California State University System. CSU Dominguez Hills is an urban, comprehensive public university that serves a culturally rich, diverse student body of approximately 14,000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Position Information:

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position.


Conditions of Employment:

Candidates must pass a Live Scan (fingerprinting) background check as a requirement of employment.


The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.


Department:

School of Nursing


The School of Nursing offers degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. It is housed in the College of Professional Studies.


Major Job Duties:

Under the general supervision of the Director of the School of Nursing, the incumbent's. The Nursing Skills Laboratory Manager plays a key role in the School of Nursing by being responsible for the operations of the Nursing Skills Lab on the CSUDH Campus and supplying the needs of faculty members for teaching in the skills laboratory. The coordinator will be expected to have a working knowledge of human patient simulators and audiovisual equipment and other technology as used in the lab environment. Knowledgeable about safety guidelines for laboratories as they relate to Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) guidelines.


Qualifications:


Knowledge of:

Applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures; equipment and materials in the skills laboratory; operations of computers and application software. Safety standards and practices used in the lab area. Processes for repair of lab equipment.


Ability to:

Manage clinical areas; Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and other colleagues; Teach clinical coursework; Maintain inventory control; Maintain lab equipment; Maintain an established work schedule; Coordinate lab activities; Promote and ensure safe lab practices; Maintain confidentiality of work related information and materials; Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills using tact and diplomacy; Ability to work a flexible schedule must be able to work some nights and weekends on occasion.


Skill in:

Simulation experience


Experience and Education:


Experience Required:

Equivalent to two years of experience providing instructional support services for a unit or discipline, acting as a student assistant, or in producing materials or supplies related to the discipline.


OR


Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for one year of the required experience.


OR


Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a related discipline may be substituted for the experience.


Preferred Experience:

Teaching experience in clinical nursing; Experience using simulation in teaching; Competency in simulation technique (or willingness to learn); one year experience in acute health care


Preferred Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. Current active and unencumbered RN license in the state of California.


Salary Range:

The salary range for this classification is $3,374 to $5,061 per month.
