Qualifications:

The Department of Nursing at California State University Northridge invites applications for a tenure track position in its expanding nursing program. Candidates must hold a master's degree in nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or in a related field. ABD candidates will be considered, but they must complete the doctorate degree before the time of their appointment. Recent clinical experience of two or more years (preferably within the last five years), evidence of teaching competency in upper division baccalaureate and/or in graduate nursing education, evidence of scholarship/research activities and a valid and active California Registered Nurse License are required. Candidates must also be qualified or eligible for California Board of Registered Nursing approval to teach in both didactic and clinical supervision settings and with clinical competency in one or more specialties as defined by the California BRN (i.e., medical-surgical, pediatrics, OB/Gyn, psych/mental health, geriatrics). Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and mentoring a diverse student population.


CSUN is a Learning Centered University. The successful candidate will be expected to join faculty and staff in a commitment to active learning, to the assessment of learning outcomes, and to multiple pathways that enable students to graduate.


At time of appointment, the successful candidate, if not a U.S. citizen, must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach theory and clinical courses in the Department of Nursing and to actively participate in the shared governance of the Department. Responsibilities will also include curricular review and development, review and evaluations of students' applications, student advisement, and in program's assessment and evaluation. In addition, the appointee will be responsible for demonstration of appropriate scholarship, professional activity, and service to the University and community. Faculty will be evaluated for teaching effectiveness, scholarship and contributions to the field, and service to the University and community. The successful candidate must be able to commute off campus locations for supervision. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, including evenings and possibly weekends.
