Teach at least two clinically based nursing courses each year.
Develop and distribute course syllabi and participate in the development of required documents such as college, self-studies, and BRN/CCNE reports.
Advise, mentor, and support students. Evaluate students per program policy.
Participate in the on-going planning, development, implementation, evaluation of the program; and in the coordination and oversight of clinical experiences.
Coordinate the instruction of theory and clinical practice one or more of the following areas: personal hygiene, client abuse, human sexuality, cultural diversity, ethnicity, nutrition (nursing therapeutic aspects), pharmacology, or legal, social and ethical aspects of nursing, nursing leadership, and management.
Assist with the direction of student activities ordinarily associated with an instructional program on an University level.
Assist with the annual updating of the program faculty and student handbooks.
Promote positive relationships with clinical agency personnel and departments on campus.
Serve on committees and attend professional community meetings.
Contribute to the Nursing Department budgeting process.
Requirements:
Education:
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing and an earned doctorate in a related field required; course work in nursing and education or administration desired.
Nurse Practitioners must hold National certification as a nurse practitioner.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner.
Experience:
Meet competency requirement (RN and NP clinical experience in content area with last five years); or teaching in an RN pre-post-licensure program for a minimum if one academic year in the last five years.
A minimum of 3-5 years of clinical practice experience is desired
Record of successful teaching experience in a postsecondary nursing program is preferred, certification in the specialty and/or as an advanced practice nurse is a plus. This is a one year position, renewable based on satisfactory performance. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
