Nursing – Faculty Position – Phd/Nurse Practitioner – 630001 Hs Nurs Administration

Job Description:

East Carolina University College of Nursing is currently seeking applications for two full time faculty positions in the PhD, Doctor of Nursing Practice and Graduate division.

Candidates may be considered for 12 month fixed-term, tenure-track, or tenured faculty at the title/rank of Assistant Professor or higher. Appointments are commensurate with education and experience.


This concentration is taught in a face-face and/or online, distance education delivery format.


Rated 10th in the country by US News and World Report for online graduate education, the College of Nursing has over 500 graduate students and is a front runner in preparing nurses to assume advanced practice and nurse researcher roles.


Responsibilities include: Teaching in the doctoral (PhD and/or NP programs), academic advising, developing and evaluating relevant courses, and participating in PhD dissertations/DNP scholarly projects while maintaining an active program of research.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Tenure-track and tenured positions require a PhD.

  • A PhD Nursing is preferred or a closely related discipline with a graduate degree in nursing.

  • Fixed-term positions require a master's degree in nursing.

  • A valid non-restricted NC nursing license is required upon employment.

  • Two years of clinical nursing experience, approval to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in NC, National Certification as an AGNP, FNP, or ACNP relevant nurse practitioner clinical and teaching experience is required, online teaching experience is preferred.

  • The ACNP applicant must be eligible for hospital privileges.

  • The ideal candidates will demonstrate experience, credentials and scholarship as an Adult-Gerontology, Family or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner role.

  • Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
