Position Summary

Full-time, non-tenure track, faculty (10-month appointment) to teach in undergraduate nursing program. Primary teaching focus will be with medical-surgical nursing students.


The School of Nursing offers a traditional pre-licensure and BSN completion pathway within its BSN Program; clinical nurse leader and clinical nurse specialists concentrations within its MSN Program; and a post-masters DNP and a BSN to DNP family nurse practitioner concentrations within its DNP Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics. Classroom, lab and clinical teaching; evaluating student performance; all faculty are expected to advise students and to work with faculty team to design and evaluate curriculum materials to meet accreditation standards and guidelines.


Required Education

Master of Science in Nursing


Required Experience

5 years experience as a registered nurse and at least 3 years of medical-surgical nursing clinical experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Nursing faculty are required to maintain up-to-date clinical clearance items to include necessary immunizations, screenings, and ongoing documentation of professional training (this includes but is not limited to CPR, Patient Confidentiality, and Safety).


Required Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations

Unencumbered license to practice professional nursing in Texas


Preferred Qualifications

Clinical teaching experience; certification in nursing specialty; and bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred
