Assistant Professor of Nursing
Colorado Mesa University is seeking qualified applicants for assistant professor of nursing. The teaching emphasis for this position is in the Masters of Science of Nursing/Doctorate of Nursing Practice programs and in Family Nurse Practitioner coursework with a focus on adult and geriatric content.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Teaching theory and clinical components, advising, and evaluating in nursing educational program at the baccalaureate and graduate level with a primary assignment in the MSN and DNP programs.
- Standard teaching load is 12course credit hours per semester (24 semester hours per year) divided between the graduate and undergraduate nursing programs.
- Evaluating efficiency and appropriateness of teaching methods through established evaluation methods.
- Active involvement in professional organizations, continuing scholarship in discipline, advising and service to the academic community.
- Participating in faculty meetings and committees reflecting professional contributions to shared governance.
- Maintaining good rapport with cooperating health care facilities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and CERTIFICATION: Doctor of Philosophy or Doctor of Nursing Practice required; National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner required with an emphasis in adult or elderly populations. Must be eligible for or hold a current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in Colorado, and be eligible for prescriptive authority. At least two years of full-time (or equivalent) professional nursing clinical experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner required.

APPOINTMENT: Full-time, tenure track appointment to begin August 2014. This is a nine-month appointment position. Summer teaching in the DNP - FNP track may be available.
