Position Summary
UIW is seeking 2-3 full-time (10th month), tenure track faculty to teach in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities. Teaching responsibilities include classroom, clinical teaching and student advising. In all matters, faculty members are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics. Rank is dependent on education and experience.
The School of Nursing offers a traditional pre-licensure and BSN Completion pathway its BSN Program; the clinical nurse leader and clinical nurse specialist concentrations within its MSN Program; a post masters DNP and a BSN to DNP Family Nurse Practitioner concentration within its DNP Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching in area(s) of expertise within graduate and undergraduate programs, outreach and community service, and active involvement of school and university, committee, service, and governance. Developing and maintaining program of scholarship based on the Boyer Model. At senior level, responsibilities include facilitating ongoing scholarship within the school. Teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate level include: classroom, lab and clinical teaching; evaluating student performance; all faculty are expected to advise students and to work with faculty team to design and evaluate curriculum materials to meet accreditation standards and guidelines.
Required Education
Earned doctorate in nursing or closely related discipline; master's degree in nursing if doctorate in another discipline; completion of advanced practice graduate educational program (for APRN applicants only).
Required Experience
- Successful nursing teaching experience or knowledge related to institute of higher education, scholarship appropriate for rank for undergraduate and/or graduate nursing levels.
- A minimum of five years of professional nursing practice
- Scholarship experience appropriate for rank
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of professional nursing education standards for BSN, MSN, and/or DNP Programs
- Professional competence in nursing specialty area
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Well-developed education and health care team communication
Required Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations
Eligible for license as RN in Texas and as appropriate, recognition by Texas State Board of Nursing as Advanced Practice Nurse with credential/certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in nursing specialty and bilingual Spanish/English skills are preferred. Candidates with expertise maternal child health (pediatrics and/or obstetrics); medical surgical; community health; primary care as family nurse practitioner; psychiatric/mental health; or clinical nurse leader are desired. Experience in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation at the undergraduate level, graduate level or with concept-based curriculum and/or distance education methodologies are preferred.
