Posting Description:
The Director of the Clinical Education Center (CEC) is responsible for all aspects of the successful operation of the clinical simulation and clinical learning laboratories. The Director ensures that students' learning experiences in the CEC are consistent with curricular goals and requirements. The Director will network with professional organizations such as the International Nursing Association for Clinical Nursing Simulation and Learning (INACSL) and the NLN's Simulation Innovation Resource Center (SIRC)] to trend advances in technology, education strategies, and policy changes related to the use of simulation and clinical learning laboratories. The Director maintains current clinical competence and is eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado.
- Maintains expertise in use of state-of-the-art clinical simulation, and makes recommendations related to equipment, simulators, supplies, and use of the laboratory spaces.
- Identifies the latest advances and trends in the use of clinical simulation and learning laboratories in nursing education.
- Develops strategic plans for meeting the clinical simulation and learning laboratory goals of the undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Maintains responsibility for all operational aspects of the Clinical Education Center.
- Develops and manages, in collaboration with the Associate Deans of Finance and Academic Programs, an annual expense budget.
- Assesses the faculty, staff, space, and equipment resources necessary for the successful operations of the Clinical Education Center.
- Recruits, hires, and orients new CEC faculty and staff in collaboration with Associate Dean of Academic Programs and other key stakeholders.
- In collaboration with College of Nursing (CON) faculty, develops and/or purchases pedagogically sound simulation scenarios.
- Develops and implements technical training in simulation technology for staff and faculty.
- Collaborates with the CON faculty and Assistant Deans to incorporate simulation and learning laboratory experiences into the curricula.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Deans of Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, develops student schedules and rotations to the CEC.
- Ensures accurate and timely communication with students regarding their assigned hours and rotations to the CEC.
- Collaborates with faculty to design and implement evaluation tools and techniques to assess students' clinical competencies.
- Supervises CEC faculty and staff and conducts performance evaluations.
- Engages in other related activities and responsibilities as delegated by the Associate Dean of Academic Programs.

Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree in nursing and a minimum of 3 years of experience in clinical simulation. Demonstrated leadership and management skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Evidence of current clinical competence and eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Colorado are required.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with associates, administrative staff, faculty, and personnel internal to the Anschutz campus and the UCD campus as external agencies or organizations.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and stay composed and positive even in trying moments.
Desired Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in nursing.
- Certification in a clinical specialty.
- Five years of simulation and clinical teaching experience
- Administrative / supervisory experience.
