The position is advertised as a tenure eligible, full-time, 12-month faculty appointment.
The College of Nursing Chair for Graduate Nursing Science is comprised of face-to-face, on-line, and hybrid programs. Rated 10th in the country by US News and World Report for online graduate education, the College of Nursing has over 500 graduate students and is a front-runner in preparing nurses at the graduate level.
Responsibilities include: Overall management and implementation of the graduate courses specific to that department and that component of the curriculum. The chairperson is expected to provide leadership to the faculty in the department by facilitating their development in teaching effectiveness, research and creative activities and practice.
Minimum Qualifications: Consideration will be given to candidates who hold a PhD in Nursing or related field plus a Master's degree in nursing with eligibility for tenure as an assistant professor, associate professor, or professor.
The ideal candidate should have five years or more of teaching experience in a graduate degree program in nursing with a minimum of three years of administrative experience.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate interest, experience, credentials and expertise in the leadership of graduate level nursing departments.
Nurse faculty members shall hold a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina and if employed after July 1, 1992 shall have had a minimum of 2 calendar years prior, full-time employment or the equivalent in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse.
Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
