The ideal candidate will demonstrate interest, experience, credentials and expertise in the nursing education role. The position is advertised as a full-time, 12-month fixed-term appointment with the title of Clinical Instructor or higher.
This position is contingent upon the availability of funding for fixed-term temporary faculty for increased enrollment. This concentration is taught in an online, distance education delivery format.
Rated 10th in the country by US News and World Report for online graduate education, the ECU College of Nursing has over 500 graduate students and is a front-runner in preparing nurses at the graduate level.
Responsibilities include: planning, teaching and evaluating theory and clinical practicum courses that may include classroom/didactic instruction using the Blackboard format. Content may include teaching strategies / methodologies, curriculum design, evaluation, practicum and synthesis courses.
This position may also involve: the supervision of students in teaching practicum settings, assisting students in identifying appropriate practicum sites and preceptors, as well as negotiating contracts for the practicum experience.
Minimum Qualifications: Consideration will be given to applicants who hold a doctoral degree in nursing or in a related field with a MSN or doctoral focus in nursing education.
Candidates should hold certification as a nurse educator, have a minimum of two years of teaching at the baccalaureate level or higher, meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements for faculty (21 NCAC 36.0318(e), and hold a valid non-restricted nursing license in North Carolina.
Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
On-line teaching experience is preferred.
