Purpose of Position:
The Department of Nursing, an academic unit within the College of Health Professions at Northern Kentucky University is accepting applications for its next Chair who will sustain and enhance the department's established BSN Program and Accelerated BSN Program. NKU's Nursing Program is directly associated with world class clinical affiliations located throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. This is a twelve-month position for an individual with qualifications commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Chair maintains standards for professional accreditation and collaborates with the College and University to sustain strategic planning and priorities consistent with the NKU mission and core values. Responsibilities of the Chair's position are outlined in the Chairs Handbook (http://deptchairs.nku.edu).
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
- Possess the Master of Science degree in Nursing and a doctoral degree in nursing or related field; be eligible for licensure in Kentucky.
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities in the areas of operations and management of an educational program including accreditation, personnel, and budgetary responsibilities.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, fostering consensus and collaboration among faculty and staff.
- Encourage and support creative, innovative and entrepreneurial educational strategies that foster student success.
