Position Description

Adjunct faculty for the Division of Graduate Studies in Nursing, the School of Nursing will be responsible to teach adult students the curriculum established by the graduate nursing faculty in our facilitator model of instruction as opportunities become available. Most online workshops are one week in length and most courses last for 6 to 10 weeks. Clinical courses may last up to 19 weeks. Each course may include up to 17 students.


Adjunct faculty members will:



  • Have an earned doctorate degree in Nursing and relevant experience

  • Maintain an active unencumbered nursing license in the state from which the faculty member teaches and in the state of any on ground instruction

  • Successfully complete an online faculty orientation and participate in mentoring activity

  • Fulfill two faculty development sessions per year

  • Maintain favorable course evaluations

  • Demonstrate a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Model and communicate the Christian experience to students as related to life and learning

  • Incorporate Biblical principles into their content area

  • Participate in course continuous quality improvement

  • Communicate with all IWU constituents in a professional and academic manner

  • Demonstrate content expertise in their subject area

  • Facilitate engaging individual and group instructional activities

  • Respond to student questions and concerns within 24 hours or less

  • Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process and assist them in achieving course objectives and learning outcomes

  • Apply sufficient, consistent rigor in grading student assignments, giving substantive feedback and critical evaluation within one week of the due date for the assignment

  • Assist students in achieving course objectives and learning outcomes

  • Utilize appropriate technology for instruction (e.g. Power-point, Blackboard, Internet Resources)

  • Maintain and report student grades and attendance in accordance with university policies

  • Engage in evaluation of the course and of own teaching performance

  • Norm with course faculty regarding standards of excellence and grading rigor of APA and assignments

  • Capitalize on teaching moments and other communication opportunities through the use of weekly announcements and emails

  • Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviors

  • Complete other tasks as assigned

Coordinator

Job Description

Primary purpose of the Project Coordinator is the coordination of the Advanced Nursing Education Grant (ANEG). The Project Coordinator will report to Dr. Bobby Lowery. The purpose of the grant is the Enhancing the Primary Care Management of Patients with Multiple Chronic Conditions through Interprofessional Education. Dr. Lowery will serve as the Primary Investigator (PI) and Project Director (PD). This three-year, $1,091,723 grant will ensure the following: 1) Integrate Interprofessional Education (IPE) competencies (values/ethics, roles and responsibilities, interprofessional communication, and teams and teamwork) throughout the AGNP and FNP curriculum; 2) Create case-based interprofessional learning scenarios in the VCCLE that address the IPE core competencies in the management of individuals with MCC, including those with MCC due to occupational causes; 3) Develop and expand clinical and didactic content in the management of individuals with MCC living in rural communities through interprofessional experiences with standardized patient simulated case scenarios; and 4) Promote and evaluate IPE competencies used by clinicians, faculty, and students practicing in a rural, under-served community that serves a diverse, ethnic minority population. The Project Coordinator will support the Project Director, ECU College of Nursing faculty and OCSAE faculty in project-related activities including preparation of budget data, monitor grant expenditures, preparation of financial reports. The Project Coordinator will also advise the Project director regarding changes in reporting or accounting requirements. The position is responsible for correspondences, preparation of instructional and evaluation materials, maintenance of project files, scheduling activities, reporting, use of computer software to manage, enter, store, and protect data and perform basic data analysis. The Project Coordinator will participate and assist with the following: logistical operations related to project meetings; ensure that the grant project is administered according to grant protocols, rules, and regulations; oversee the preparation of reports for ECU and HRSA; conduct literature searches and assist with publication or presentations as needed; assist the Project Director to ensure that the project goals are met and provide daily management of project implementation, evaluation and reports; work with the Project Director and Project faculty to develop case studies for the VCCLE and the OCSAE and with Robeson Health Care Corporation, the clinical partner in this proposal; and coordinate the evaluation of the project which will require collaboration with a nationally known expert in IPE as well as faculty at ECU.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's degree in nursing or related health discipline such as health education, mental health, social work, or public health and two years of related professional experience. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, SPSS, Qualtrics and software used in the preparation of documents for peer-reviewed publication, HRSA reports, and curriculum proposal processing is required. Strong organizational, analytical and planning skills and ability to work well with a variety of interprofessional project team members and ability to travel and work with remote project partners and clinical sites as noted in the project work plan. Excellent interpersonal skills required in all venues including both verbal and written communication in a highly autonomous environment. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience as a project coordinator is preferred. Clinical expertise and knowledge related to interprofessional management of multiple chronic conditions is highly desirable.

Veterans Health Administration


BASIC REQUIREMENTS : Following are the overall requirements for appointment

as a physician in VHA.


a. Citizenship. Citizen of the United

States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit

qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this

part.)


b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine

or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or

osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the

schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the

course of study was completed. Approved schools are:


(1) Schools of

medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of

American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.


(2) Schools of

osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the

year in which the degree was granted.


(3) Schools

(including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State,

Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia

as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.


(4) For

residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is

required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.


c. Licensure and Registration


(1) Physicians (Except Residents). Current,

full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State,

Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of

Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of

licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is

to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has

licensure in that country.


(2) Residents. Current, full and

unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory or

Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia before the

second year of VA residency, or meet any licensure, registration or other

equivalent requirements established for residents of non-VA hospitals with

which the VA facility is affiliated for training purposes. The resident must

maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a

(3) Impaired Licensure. A physician who

has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted,

limited, or issued/placed in a probationary status may be appointed only in

(4) Waiver of Licensure. Licensure may be

waived by the Under Secretary for Health or designee in Central Office for

individuals in research or academic assignments involving no direct patient

d. First-Year Residency (Internship). Completed a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed. For a VA resident,

the appropriate Deans Committee and Resident Review Board may recommend

appointment on the basis of the candidate’s acceptability for residency

training. Approved residencies are:


(1) Those

approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals, American Medical

Association, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or


(2) Other

residencies or their equivalents which the Professional Standards Board

Open faculty positions: We seek established researchers and clinical scholars from areas including (but not limited to) acute and critical care, geriatrics, pediatrics, oncology, palliative care, diabetes care, public and rural health, health disparities, nursing health services research, and complementary and alternative therapies and history. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with established programs of research, a commitment to external funding, and either exceptional teaching experience or an APRN certification and current practice. Applicants must have a PhD degree in nursing or a related field, and be eligible for licensure in Virginia.

Open faculty positions: We seek experienced teachers with strong clinical experience in a variety of specialty areas including (but not limited to) geriatrics, women's health, pediatrics, oncology, palliative care, diabetes care, public and rural health, health disparities, nursing health services research, complementary and alternative therapies and nursing history. Nursing faculty will lecture in the classroom and supervise students in a variety of clinical settings.


A PhD in nursing or related field or a DNP, strong clinical experience in a specialty area (especially acute care, obstetrics and family practice nursing), and experience working with students and teaching a specialty area are required. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in Virginia. Preference will be given to those with an acute care nurse practitioner or family nurse practitioner certification as well as a commitment to quality and excellence in interdisciplinary learning environments. Under general direction, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) Technician is responsible for the initial technical support of the learning resource centers, the university’s AV equipment in the classrooms, and lecture halls. The LRC Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware and software for health sciences Library/LRC and classrooms at the University. Provides technical support the computers in the Learning Resource Centers and the Student Education Services Center; provides multi-media support to the University for conference, special events and regular assemblies; maintains computers and educational equipment in the LRCs, classrooms and auditorium in optimum working conditions; assists in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware and software in the Learning Resource Centers, Keck Auditorium and the School of Nursing; supports the printing of scientific posters, setup and operation of audiovisual equipment, supports lecture capture and video conferencing; assists in maintaining the learning resource center servers, creates and manages user accounts, and upgrades systems; troubleshoots Library, LRC lab computers and classroom equipment, repair where applicable; assists in staffing the Library and LRCs; and provides select educational software installation to students and faculty. The position will require working some evening and weekend hours as assigned.

Requirements:

Regionally accredited associate degree in Computer Science required. Three to five years of experience working in computer support, training or educational role. Prior experience working in an academic environment. Hands-on experience with PC, MAC, Microsoft operating environments, Network Administration. Microsoft Certification (A+ or other computer certification).
