Summary: Your initial assignment will include teaching, as applicable; course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; involvement on College and University committees and/or initiatives; as well as duties as assigned. Job Responsibilities:



  • Provides academic and clinical leadership for a recently re-accredited Nurse Anesthesia (NA) Program as the Nurse Anesthesia Program Director. Maintains COA accreditation standards and ongoing accreditation efforts. Collaborates with School of Nursing Director to develop and monitor nurse anesthesia program auxiliary budgets and prepares internal and external regulatory reports. Establishes and maintains close liaisons with nurse anesthesia clinical sites and clinical site coordinators. Oversees development and refinement of NA curriculum, program policies, and program evaluation. Meets with, supports, and mentors nurse anesthesia faculty. Leads nurse anesthesia student recruitment, selection, and retention. Schedules students for clinical site rotations and tracks program progress. Teaches at the graduate and undergraduate levels with primary responsibility for NGR didactic and clinical courses in the NA Program. Conducts clinical teaching and simulation labs and advising; engages in university service and professional organizations (e.g. membership and/or committee involvement), scholarly research, and/or publications. Connor Professor of Nursing will provide mentorship and lead research activities within the program.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong communication skills and demonstrated computer skills using web-based applications, virtual/distance teaching platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.


Minimum Qualifications: Earned Doctorate in Nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution/program or equivalent accreditation. Master's of Science degree in Nursing - Nurse Anesthesia from an accredited institution and a nationally accredited nurse anesthesia program. Six (6) years of clinical experience in a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) role. Current unrestricted license as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida, or eligible for licensure. Current CRNA recertification. Experience as a faculty member in a nursing education program at the College/University level. Experience with program administration and accreditation or experience in curriculum design, implementation, or evaluation. Strong communication skills and demonstrated computer skills using web-based applications, virtual/distance teaching platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite. The Connor Professor of Nursing title will only be given at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.


ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by date of hire. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract.


Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as Nurse Anesthesia Program Director or Assistant Program Director. Eligible for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor; evidence of professional presentations, research, and/or publications; record of funded research; service in professional organizations (e.g. membership and /or committee involvement) commensurate for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.


Special Instructions: Appointment will be made at a faculty rank commensurate with the candidate's experience on a 12-month multi-year appointment. Position is available for immediate placement.
