Essential Functions of Position:
Commencing Fall 2014, a full-time tenure-track faculty position will be available in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Responsibilities include instructing students in the Allied Health and Nursing Laboratory and the clinical area; participation in planning and scheduling; assisting in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; participation in faculty meetings, assistance in meeting applicable accreditation requirements and preparing program, state, and regional accreditation documentation, studies, and reports. Responsibilities may include teaching nursing theory. Recent acute-care medical-surgical experience is required. In addition, this faculty may serve as chair of the credit and non-credit Allied Health programs (e.g., EMT, Medical Assisting). Other responsibilities include participation in the governance of the college via committee assignments, maintenance of office hours sufficient to meet student needs and college policy and full participation in departmental responsibilities. Involvement in activities designed to improve teaching and particularly the application of technology in the instructional process will be expected. Weekend and evening clinical may be required.
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must meet one of these criteria:
1. Master’s in nursing; OR
2. Bachelor’s in nursing AND Master’s in health education or health science; OR
3. Combination of education and other accomplishments that is equivalent to the above. (If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement that presents the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence, e.g., transcripts, publications, and other work products.); OR
4. The minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing.
5. Possession of a lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential in Nursing.
6. Must possess current license in California as a Registered Nurse.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Teaching experience in an Associate Degree Nursing Program
- Current Knowledge and clinical skills in acute care medical-surgical
- Recent experience and current clinical knowledge in maternal child nursing and/or pediatrics nursing.
- Familiarity with nursing instruction and objective clinical evaluation.
- Experience managing a clinical unit and/or an instructional skills lab.
- Demonstrated experience with development and implementation of Student Learning Outcomes and utilization of results for improvement of student learning.
- Demonstrated experience with using technology and multi-media in delivery of instruction and interaction with students.
- Demonstrated experience with utilization of strategies, techniques and methods that enhance student learning and success and respond to diverse learning styles and diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic, and disability backgrounds.

Salary & Benefits:
The current salary schedule range for a entering tenure-track faculty member is $54,968-$82,968, plus an earned doctoral bonus of $2,748. Depending on the entry step, the faculty member increase one step each year and has the potential to reach the current maximum step of $92,968, depending on the educational level attained. Starting salary is commensurate with academic preparation and full-time related, paid experience. In addition to salary each full-time employee participates in a "cafeteria style" Health & Welfare Benefits Program.

Selection Procedure:
Online applications will be initially reviewed by the selection committee, who will recommend candidates for personal interviews at SBCC. A teaching demonstration and in-person interview will be required for selected applicants. After the initial interviews have been conducted, the committee, the Department Chair, and the Dean will recommend the top candidates to the Superintendent/President for a final interview. The successful candidate’s name will then be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval.
