CAMPUS: Purdue University North Central is a regional campus within the Purdue University system. It currently serves approximately 6,000 students with a full-time faculty of 126. This scenic campus is situated on 268 rolling and wooded acres eight miles south of Lake Michigan near the cities of LaPorte, Michigan City, and Valparaiso. It is 65 miles east of Chicago's vast cultural resources and 85 miles north of Purdue's main campus in West Lafayette, IN. The location offers both urban and suburban living, excellent school systems, and extensive recreational facilities.
MISSION: The Purdue University North Central Department of Nursing program provides educational opportunities for both traditional and non-traditional students leading to the granting of the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing.
POSITION: This is an academic year, full-time non-tenure track faculty position with the possibility of summer teaching. The teaching load is 14-16 contact hours per week per semester. Faculty may be assigned to work in a variety of nursing courses including those requiring lecture, student practicum supervision, and on campus skill laboratory.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in nursing, the ability to teach students in the Nursing Resource Center (Nursing Laboratory) and excellent communication skills are required. Experience with adult health and medical-surgical nursing are strongly preferred. Candidates must be eligible for Indiana RN license and meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be able to teach across the undergraduate curriculum with experience and expertise in the area of adult health, medical-surgical nursing, and the ability to assist with and teach students in the Nursing Resource Center (Nursing Laboratory). Teaching-Learning: practicum (clinical) both on campus and at hospital locations and class room instruction and assistance. Participation in activities for professional growth in community Engagement is expected and opportunities for involvement in Discovery will be available.
