This position involves didactic and clinical instruction of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students. The person hired will also serve as coordinator of the CNA program and will be responsible for compliance with and maintenance of IDPH program requirements. Instructional responsibilities include: course development, update and submit all course syllabi in required format, assessment of student outcomes, research and development of current resources for instruction, and utilization and development of instructional design methods that include technology (simulation/online instruction). Evaluation of students including timely reporting of student grades and progress. Recommendations of schedule and new adjunct and clinical supervisors.
Candidates must demonstrate a high level of organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Candidates must be committed to being responsive to student and faculty needs.
Duties of Position: Participate in and contribute to program, divisional and institutional committees, assignments and activities. Coordinate training of Basic Nursing Assistant faculty and clinical supervisors. Maintain 10 office hours per week for student consultation and advisement. Participation in professional development, both internal and external, to remain credentialed in nursing and to advance in the instructional role.
Education Requirements: A Master's degree in Nursing and a current unencumbered RN license (Illinois) are required.
Experience Requirements: Two years of nursing experience with one year focusing on care for the elderly, including Alzheimer's clients, formal teaching experience, and Illinois Department of Public Health Train the Trainer and Approved Evaluator certificate are required. Ability to teach didactic, laboratory, and clinical componenets are an integral part of the CNA program. Ability to work a flexible schedule is required.
