Job Description
The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer provides operational support and administrative oversight to the nursing programs to ensure high quality competency-based degree programs in nursing-related disciplines. S/he is responsible to the CNO for facilitating the nursing programs and student success through a communication and integration plan which links communication and operations with the Student Mentoring Department, Program Development Department and Assessment Department. The Assistant CNO provides leadership to the National Clinical Operations team to support all aspects of the prelicensure nursing program. This position is based at the Salt Lake City offices.
Responsibilities:
- Directs and organizes the activities of the National Clinical Operations team.
- Participates in regular and ongoing evaluation of existing programs to ensure that they are current and that quality standards are maintained; participates in ongoing revision and improvement processes in collaboration with product development and other departments.
- Leads the National Clinical Operations team to ensure national consistency in state-based prelicensure program decisions, supports and operations.
- Supports the CNO and the Compliance and Accreditation department in achieving, maintaining and sustaining accreditation of all nursing programs.
- Supports the CNO in new state or national program approvals including site visits,Board presentations and documentation.
- Leads, supervises, and evaluates Program faculty and staff as assigned. Establishes reasonable and objective performance expectations. Provides appropriate motivational support and initiates corrective action when indicated.
- Serves as a member of the Academic Leadership Team and provides collaborative support and cooperation to other colleges and departments of the university
- Supports the management of the financial budget of the Program with day-to-day accountability for budget management and participates in budget planning and development.
- Serves as a model to the faculty
- Represents the University to external constituencies
- Works collaboratively with Product Development to develop, maintain and sustain high quality nursing programs.
- Performs State Director duties, including interaction with State Boards of Nursing,for assigned states including Utah.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience
- Doctorate degree preferred, Masters in Nursing required
- Professional experience and/or clinical practice and significant teaching experience in a health-related field.
- Current and unencumbered Utah registered nurse license required.
- Record of successful academic and/or industry leadership
- Strong track record of performance as a manager or administrator
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with integrated technology systems and tools including simulation
- Proven record of success in working with adult students, assessment of learning outcomes, student advisement and distance education.
