State Fair Community College, located in Sedalia, Mo., is a public, nonprofit college that serves the educational needs of 14 counties in west central Missouri. Position Overview :
The Instructor/faculty shall be responsible to the Nursing Program PN Director and the Associate Dean of Nursing for State Fair Community College. The faculty of the program shall be responsible assisting the program administrator in: 1.meeting minimum standards. 2.ongoing planning, systematic development, implementation and evaluation in relationship to the philosophy and outcome criteria of the ADN and PN programs 3.instruction and evaluation of students. 4.recruitment, admission, retention, promotion and graduation of students. 5.ensuring availability of academic advisement and guidance of students. 6.maintaining student records. 7.ensuring confidentiality of student records. 8.maintaining clinical and educational competencies in area of instructional responsibilities. 9.participation in student activities as appropriate. 10.participation in departmental and institutional policies. 11.Participation in the budget process 12. Other duties as assigned The instructor shall assume the duties of the Program administrator in the administrator's absence on a temporary basis. This position will work evenings and weekends.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1.Clinical: a.Make recommendations for implementation of the changes in curriculum. b.Provide appropriate instructional experiences to meet the objectives of the program. c.Supervise the work of students in the clinical lab. d.Work with the clinical facilities to provide the most suitable clinical experiences for students. e.Maintain positive working relationship and open communication with clinical sites. f.Complete evaluations of the clinical site. g.Assist with obtaining preceptorship agreements in assigned areas of clinical. h.Keep attendance records for clinical attendance. i.Develop clinical schedules, syllabi, and orientation information. j.Make assignments at clinical facility for each assigned student k.Arrive at hospital on clinical days at least ½ hour before students to check assignments. l.Conduct pre and post clinical conference with students. m.Observe, guide, and assist students with nursing actions, medications, charting, and special procedures. n.Write anecdotal notes on each assigned student, review clinical papers and write an evaluation on each student at end of clinical rotation. o.Complete and individual conference with each student after the rotation to go over his/her evaluations and at any time deemed necessary during the rotation.
2.Classroom: a.Make recommendations for implementation of the changes in curriculum. b.Make appropriate changes in response to recommendations for changes to the curriculum. c.Provide appropriate and varied instructional experiences to meet the objectives of the program. d.Assist with registering students for classes. e.Fulfill the duties of advisor for assigned students f.Maintain grade files on currently enrolled students and submit grades to Student Services Office at end of semester. g.Coordinate and/or assist with pinning ceremony. h.Attend SFCC graduation. i.Serve on councils/committees as requested by the Vice President of Educational Services. j.Counsel students as needed. k.Attend staff and department meetings. l.Participate in the Nursing Program Advisory Board. m.Assist with development of the budget for supplies, equipment, and software needed to implement and maintain the programs. n.Attend and participate in Career Days. o.Avail self to students for individualized and/or group instruction. p.Confer with the Program Administrator, Department Chair or other resources in regard to ordering and preparing instructional material or any instructional difficulties encountered. q.Utilize Angel web shell, classroom technology, computers, and other instructional aids as appropriate. r.Meet SFCC expectations of in-service attendance. s.Convene and dismiss classes with punctuality. t.Provide a current course syllabus and handouts for each course to students, the Program Administrator, and the Dean's office. u.Submit course attendance records to the Dean's office. v.Assist instructor in another course when necessary. 3.Faculty work expectations Faculty maintain a minimum of ten office hours per week. These office hours are in addition to the credit hour expectations of the courses the faculty teaches. Faculty is expected to be on campus or in the clinical setting Wednesday through Saturday. Clinical assignments of four hours or less require the faculty to return to campus. Faculty is expected to be on campus or in the clinical setting 30 minutes prior to scheduled courses. Faculty usually maintain a thirty-five hour work week or more meeting the above expectations.

Required Qualifications:
1.Meet the qualifications specified by the State Board of Nursing minimum standards for accreditation.
2.Be currently licensed to practice as a registered professional nurse in Missouri
3.Minimum of a baccalaureate in nursing with a clinical component.
4.Equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience within five (5) years or have a total of two (2) years of part-time experience in the last five years 5.Evidence of active pursuit of a Master's degree in Nursing or higher advanced nursing degree, if teaching for the second year (ADN level). Experience shall be in education, clinical practice, or administration.
