Job Summary:

The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for a full-time, twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Simulation in the College of Nursing.


Qualified applicants with teaching/practice experience in a specialty area of nursing (including, but not limited to, adult health nursing, psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, family nurse practitioner, nursing leadership and administration, health policy and ethics) are welcome to apply.


Duties and Responsibilities:

The Simulation Coordinator will work with faculty to incorporate clinical simulation throughout the undergraduate and graduate curriculum with the goal of reducing traditional clinical experiences.


The successful candidate will direct the operations of the clinical simulation lab, coordinate scheduling, and manage student flow through simulation areas. The position involves enhancing the use of high-fidelity simulation within the College of Nursing, educating and mentoring nursing faculty in the use of simulation, evaluating learning outcomes associated with simulation, and conducting and disseminating research related to use of high-fidelity simulation in nursing education.


The Simulation Coordinator develops scenarios, learning objectives, and debriefing tools that correlate with specific simulation activities; establishes and revises policies and standard practices related to the use of simulation technology.


The successful candidate will develop and teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses and contribute broadly to our thriving BSN, RN-BSN, MSN, PHD, DNP programs.


Minimum Qualifications:

Masters in Nursing and an earned doctorate in Nursing or a related discipline.


A minimum of two years of teaching (full or part-time) and three years of clinical nursing experience. .


Salary and appointment to assistant professor will be commensurate with qualifications and experience appropriate for that rank.
