The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, with a student population of over 22,400 students, serves as the major center of liberal and professional education and as the primary land-grant campus in the state.

Located in the rapidly growing northwestern corner of the state, Fayetteville is a hilly, heavily forested city of approximately 70,000 residents. The Northwest Arkansas metropolitan area has an estimated population of over 420,000 people. Fayetteville offers many of the advantages of an urban setting (shopping, restaurants, healthcare, entertainment, public parks and lakes) while maintaining the natural beauty of clear streams and clean air.


In addition, to excellent hunting, fishing, golfing, canoeing, hiking and biking, the surrounding areas is well-known for its many small farms, orchards and forest lands and is free of large industrial pollution. Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA) provides direct jet service to Dallas, Memphis, Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Minneapolis and Houston.

Description:

The Eleanor Mann School of Nursing in the College of Education and Health Professionals at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites nominations and applications for a full-time and tenure-track Assistant Professor of Nursing position.


The College of Education and Health Professions offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level with more than 4,300 students pursuing coursework both on-campus and off campus. The College is comprised of academic units based in six buildings on the Fayetteville campus. More than 200 faculty and staff are helping the College achieve its three board strategic goals: excellence in teaching, research and service; grown in enrollment and increased diversity; and increased public and private support.


The Eleanor Mann School of Nursing offers fully accredited B.S.N. and M.S.N. degree programs and now offers an approved on-line DNP program. The school is one of five academics units in the College of Education and Health Professions and is supported by the Eleanor Mann Endowment. The School's programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and BSN program is approved by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.


The Eleanor Mann School of Nursing seeks individuals who are committed to providing quality instruction to both undergraduate and graduate nursing students.


This is a 9-month, tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and background. Contingent on available funding and demand, an additional summer appointment is possible. Start-up research funds are available. The anticipated starting date is January 1, 2014.


Minimum Requirements:

The individuals selected for these positions will be expected to possess the following required qualifications:

1. An earned doctorate from a national recognized university in Nursing or a related field:

2. At least one graduate degree must be in the field of Nursing; and

3. A current R.N. license.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

1. Prior academic or clinical experience as a clinical nurse specialist in adult nursing, however, other specialties will be considered;

2. Previous teaching and/or clinical supervision experience;

3. Evidence of the potential for research productivity, including securing externally funded grants;

4. A record of involvement in public service and with professional organizations; and

5. Previous experience working with diverse populations.


Job Duties:

Duties and responsibilities include the following: (1) provide classroom and clinical instruction; (2) produce refereed publications and presentations; (3) pursue extramural funding by writing and submitting grant proposals; (4) participate in public service and professional organizations; and (5) engage in appropriate service activities at the school, college and university levels.
