Position Summary
UNM Gallup is one of four branch community colleges of the University and serves approximately 3,000 students. Located near the Navajo, Zuni, and Hopi Reservations, this campus has the largest percentage Native American student body of any public university campus in the world and is designated as a Department of Education Minority-Serving Institution. UNM Gallup is fully accredited by the North Central Association Higher Learning Commission (NCAHLC) offering Associate degrees and Career Technical certificate programs, adult basic education (ABE and GED), workforce training, and personal enrichment courses. There are approximately 108 part-time and 64 full-time faculty members. UNM Gallup also collaborates with UNM's Extended University in hosting four-year and graduate degree programs both on-site and through electronic delivery.
The University of New Mexico is seeking a full time lecturer I, or II (depending on candidate's qualifications) in the Nursing Assistant Program at its UNM Gallup campus. The full time Lecturer I or II position in the Nursing Assistant Program is one of twelve programs housed in the Division of Education, Health and Human Services. Applicants must be prepared to teach fifteen (15) credit hours or the equivalent per semester. The chosen candidate will teach long term care, sub-acute care, hospital and home health care specialties as well as adjunct courses. Faculty duties include maintaining scheduled office hours, attendance at faculty meeting, participation in campus committees and performance of other duties as assigned by the Program Chair and those consistent with the role of a community college faculty member.
Gallup is located 130 miles west of Albuquerque and the UNM Albuquerque Campus. Gallup has a population of approximately 21,000 and the area provides an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities within some of the most beautiful red rock country in the Southwest. Gallup is known for its location in the heart of Native American lands.
Minimum Qualifications
- New Mexico Nursing License at time of appointment.
- Four years of experience in long-term care nursing facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other health related field.
- Computer skills and ability to work with groups in a collaborative atmosphere.
- Experience teaching adults at a community college level.
- Additional clinical nursing experience and other specialties such as Personal Care Attendant or Home Health Aide, NACEP testing experience.
