Summary:
The Director of Nursing provides leadership for the program faculty, staff, and students; manages financial, personnel, and physical resources; and is accountable for the integrity of the academic program. Moreover, the Director of Nursing assures that the program meets all regulatory and accreditation requirements; that the curriculum is current and prepares students for practice in the current and future health care environments, and implements a plan for program evaluation. The individual that serves as a Director of the Nursing is a faculty member while also performing administrative functions. The Director cooperates with other department faculty and College personnel to meet program and College objectives and serves as the public representative for the program.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Directs and administers educational program in department of nursing:
1) Assists in preparation of budget, and administers program within budgetary limitations.
2) Leads the planning of curriculum and schedule of instruction.
3) Prepares reports, surveys and evaluation reports for regulating agencies such as the Board of Nursing for the State of Indiana.
4) Prepares reports in compliance with accreditation standards on faculty workloads; institutional costs, enrollment and student retention for the professional accrediting body.
5) Interviews and appoints faculty and administrative staff.
6) Establishes qualifications for, interviews and appoints faculty and staff.
7) Establishes and assists Admissions staff with the acceptance process for each incoming class of nursing students;
8) Arranges with clinical agencies and other institutions and agencies for students to use their facilities, under faculty supervision, for clinical experience.
9) Maintains student records of educational experience and achievement.
10) Assists VPAA in the selection, provision and control of material resources required including equipment, supplies, space and facilities.
11) Establishes strategies and goals for nursing program in alignment with the institution.
12) Defines policies and procedures for nursing program.
12) Establishes and maintains communication between department and physicians, nursing personnel and other health care professionals regarding program, policies and procedures.
13) Teaches a minimum of one course per academic year.
14) Provides additional service to the College by membership on Academic Council, Faculty Assembly and other college committees.
15) Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for supervising the faculty and staff in the Nursing Department and student assistants.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Graduate degree in nursing, with a Doctoral degree preferred in nursing or nursing education or other appropriate field.
2. Current Indiana R.N. License;
3. Minimum of 5 years' experience with demonstrated knowledge and competence in nursing education and administration
4. Knowledge of new trends in nursing education and professional development activities
5. Collegial disposition and skills to perform effectively in interpersonal situations.
6. Strong supervisory and management skills
