JOB SUMMARY OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE FOR CREDENTIALING RESEARCH
The Assistant Director of the Institute for Credentialing Research provides strategic direction for the development aspects of new programs and initiatives to implement ANCC's outreach to academia with the following responsibilities: serving as ANCC lead liaison to faculty and students in national and international schools of nursing and other external stakeholders in the educational and regulatory community; building relationships and networks of connections to academic professionals; developing informational content and delivery mechanisms to increase the knowledge of faculty and students about the value and availability of credentialing programs in nursing; establishing, managing, evaluating, and improving two new programs, Portfolio Recognition and Curriculum Recognition for APRN certification; planning initiatives to offer multisite research study opportunities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF THE INSTITUTE FOR CREDENTIALING RESEARCH
Serve as a liaison between ANCC and faculty of schools of nursing and other external stakeholders in the educational and regulatory community (e.g. state boards of nursing staff, others) to assess informational needs, develop educational materials, and deliver presentations describing the value and availability of ANCC's credentialing programs to students and/or faculty in nursing graduate and undergraduate programs.
Establish relationships to form a network of contacts with schools of nursing faculty members both nationally and internationally who are committed to providing nursing students with adequate information and knowledge about credentialing in nursing.
Develop an array of materials, toolkits, and content for live presentation to be readily available as requested with emphasis on any of ANCC's credentialing programs (i.e., certification, Magnet recognition, Pathway to Excellence recognition, and accreditation for continuing education); deliver presentations to groups (e.g., faculty and/or students) upon invitation, etc.
Identify and develop relationships with schools of nursing faculty members who have research interests and experience relevant to possible volunteer activities such as participation as discussants in the ANCC Research Symposium or as members of the ANCC Research Council.
Manage the Certification Advanced Practice Nursing Curriculum Recognition product to provide schools of nursing with an official acceptance confirming that they meet education eligibility criteria for certification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH
Education
PhD in Health Administration or related field required with baccalaureate or masters degree in nursing. Registered Nurse with certification in a specialty (e.g., nursing administration, advanced practice, healthcare administration, association management)
Related Work Experience
Minimum 7 years experience faculty leadership in nursing/education. Minimum 10 years progressively responsible managerial experience requiring independent decision-making in faculty department, program management, or association management. Minimum 5 years progressively responsible supervisory experience in nursing leadership/education (program management or curriculum design).

High level of competency in executive level leadership, administrative, and organizational skills. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal relationship and negotiation skills. High level computer and database query and management. Advanced group facilitation. Advanced customer service skills. Ability to recruit, retain, motivate, and inspire staff and volunteers. Ability to think critically and to collaboratively build solutions in a politically sensitive and highly visible work environment.
