Objective:
The instructor is a faculty member who has responsibility to ensure course objectives are met through provisions of assigned lecture content and supervising simulation lab and clinical experiences. The instructor is in a staff position involving collaboration with other faculty.
Essential Duties :
The instructor, in either the classroom or clinical setting, is responsible for:
1) Utilization of established sysllabi in the course.
2) Preparation of lecture outlines and notes based on course objectives and topical outlines in advance and provides copies of the same to the Course Coordinator.
3) Promotion of high standards of excellence in assigned courses.
4) Demonstration of positive morale and team spirit. This includes support of the college and program missions, philosophies, and goals to the students and community.
5) Participation in curriculum development, review, and revision.
6) Presentations of course content in a classroom setting and attend all class sessions.
7) Serving as a clinical instructor for assigned clinical group(s).
8) Counseling and advising students in clinical group(s).
9) Completion of evaluations and grading of student exams, assignments, and learning activities promptly and according to college and program policy.
10) Completing and documenting pre and/or post-conferences according to program policy.
11) Making recommendations for resources (equipment, materials, and supplies).
12) Keeping informed and evaluating major trends in the specific areas of instruction methodology and technology. Teach evidenced based nursing.
13) Participation in program and college faculty meetings and activities.
14) Maintenance of professional competence through practice, continuing education and professional development activities.
15) Performance of other job-related duties as assigned
Preferred Experience and Training:
1) MS in Nursing preferred.
2) Teaching experience in nursing.
Required Degree, License or Certification:
Current RN License
