Position Summary

The School of Nursing and Health Studies at Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Specialist Professor/BSN Academic Coordinator. This anticipated opening is for the 2014-2015 academic year and is a one year initial appointment subject to subsequent multi-year reappointments without limit.


The candidate would be expected to: keep meticulous records on attrition and National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) pass rates; assist with professional testing examinations; work with the Skills Lab Coordinator; screen student applications as necessary; provide academic advising; develop remediation resources; assist with faculty evaluations; evaluate clinical instructors in the field; assist with faculty and student recruitment and retention; assist with faculty mentoring; continue with the development, implementation, and evaluation of the BSN program; teach nine credits per semester (12 credits with a 3 credit reduction per year); maintain excellence in teaching and service to the School and University; disciplinary currency commensurate with teaching responsibilities; assist the Chair in the daily activities related to the BSN program; and perform other duties as necessary.

Required Degree, Licenses or Certifications:

Master's degree


Required Skills or Software:

Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately


Required Years of Experience:

5 years


Other Requirements:

Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN). New Jersey RN license-eligible. Five years of experience in clinical practice.


Familiarity with New Jersey State Board of Nursing regulations.

Experience in collecting, organizing, and preparing materials for accreditation.


Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in Nursing. Experience in administering a nursing education program. Record of professional contributions to the nursing discipline.


Experience teaching undergraduate nursing students. Working knowledge of the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation requirements and process.
