Description:
The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants to draw from, as needed, for temporary assignments.
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Nursing, this person will provide instruction and student evaluation in one or more instructional venues including the classroom, on campus laboratory, and/or clinical settings. The instructor will make assignments, supervise, and evaluate students in a clinical setting. Flexibility is needed, as schedules may vary to accommodate needs of students attending courses on days, evenings, and Saturday schedules. Communication with the NA Program Chair is essential. Student records, including graded student assignments, absence hours, and course grades must be maintained and submitted to the Program Chair upon completion of the instructional assignment. Computer skills and knowledge of Google Mail is helpful.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and teach courses which fulfill the current curriculum goals and objectives.
- Prepare a course syllabus, which includes course requirements, attendance requirements, grading criteria.
- Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
- Adhere to class schedules. Meet attendance standards.
- Remain current in practices, trends and research related to areas of specialization or assignment.
- Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Identify and assess students who are in need of additional instruction to successfully complete the course objectives and provide additional instruction to those students as needed.
- Check email or Blackboard for student rosters and other information as required.
- Maintain confidentiality relating to student matters.
- Participate in college, campus and department evaluation processes.
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings as scheduled.
- Interact constructively with resident faculty.
- Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market Gateway.
- Comply with college policies and procedures and department guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing with at least 8,000 hours of paid, non-teaching, occupational experience in the field of Nursing with a minimum of 2,000 hours working as an RN in long term care or 4,000 hours as an RN working in home health.
- Licensed as an RN in the State of Wisconsin (WI State Board of Nursing requirement).
OTHER SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITES:
- Working experience with computer software systems.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of related students.
- Skilled in teaching a wide range of related subjects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective problem solving skills.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate day, evening and Saturday students.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
DIVISION/LOCATION: District Wide (Kenosha/Racine and Elkhorn/Burlington)
HOURS: Assigned instructional days include Monday through Saturday. Hours may be day, evening and Saturday instruction. Clinical courses may be half to full days or evenings. Classes are subject to student enrollment. Flexibility is needed as schedule may vary to accommodate the needs of both day, evening and Saturday students
START DATE: 8/23/13
SALARY: $35.00 per hour
FLSA: Exempt
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- Must meet and maintain Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements
- Employment eligibility for the United States
