Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Executive Director and with a strong working relationship with the Vice President, Academic Affairs, is responsible for providing leadership in managing, planning, and implementing a comprehensive pre-licensure nursing program for delivery in support of American Career College, campus, and/or departmental goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace, state and institutional accreditation expectations. Within the context of overall campus and organizational objectives, leads programmatic budget preparation and fiscal administration, articulates student learning outcome objectives and results, and participates in curriculum assessment, coordination and improvement of the overall program and its outcomes. The Director of Nursing determines teaching assignments, supervision and evaluation of faculty, design and operation of program facilities, and selection/coordination of program specific external facilities and instruction. Provides professional leadership and support for teaching faculty; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness to student needs, and self-responsibility.
Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of one year experience in an administrative position, preferably in an educational environment for nursing education
Must have a minimum of two years experience teaching in a pre- or post-licensure registered nursing program
Must have at least one year experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care or equivalent experience and/or education, as determined by the Board of Registered Nursing
Master's degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education or administration required; Doctorate preferred
Must have approval by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) prior to assuming the role of Director of Nursing
Current California Registered Nurse License required
Current Driver’s License and CPR Card required
Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations related to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) or other nursing accrediting agencies, ABHES, BPPE and other accreditation standards
Proficient skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer software systems that includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Leadership knowledge in the program field to cultivate a learner-centered environment and to foster excellence
