Under the general supervision of the MSOII, Practice Support Nursing Manager, the Senior LVN Supervisor provides nursing support and leadership in the Department of Urology - Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (PRMS). Major duties include: Manage the Interstim and Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) program. Develop work assignment and work coverage plans, facilitate patient flow in the Frank Clark Urology Center (Westwood campus), PMRS Division, assist with maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment (including identifying equipment requiring service or repair), provide patient care in an outpatient setting, assist with urologic procedures such as cystoscopies and bladder installations, start I.V.s, perform venipuncture, administer medications, manage patient flow, collect data as appropriate and serve as backup coverage for the Urodynamic suite for the Westwood and Santa Monica urology clinics, ability to travel between sites. The incumbent spends a significant portion of time training staff and contributing to the development and implementation of nursing educational programs for the clinic staff. Supervisory responsibilities include work assignment, managing time off requests and work coverage for the PMRS division, coordinating training, work review, and assisting with identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer service, as well as assisting with development and implementation of action plans for improvement.
Job Qualifications Required - Working knowledge of female urologic conditions and their treatments.Required - Ability to assist with cystoscopic examination.Preferred - Demonstrated experience performing Urodynamic.Required - Demonstrated experience performing Interstim programming.Required - Demonstrated treatment skills including catheterizations and bladder installations. Required - Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessments and take appropriate action.
Required - Skill at setting up and maintaining sterile fields.Required - Skill at effectively communicating with patients, physicians, staff and the public.Required - Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively interact explain procedures and interpret instructions with the general public and culturally diverse patient populations, in an appropriate manner.Required - Ability to write concise and clear progress notes.Required - Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.Required - Ability to meet and maintain one's professional needs. Required - Ability to work as part of a team and establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, doctors, peers and public.
Required - Knowledge and experience in administering intramuscular and oral medication and monitoring I.V.Required - Ability to assess inventory levels.Required - Ability to promote effective communication to faculty concerning a typical clinic events or patient activities.Required - Experience with varied computer hardware and software including word processing, spreadsheets and database programs and the UCLA Hospital Information System.Preferred - Expertise in speaking clearly and distinctly, in both Spanish and English, using appropriate vocabulary and grammar, to obtain and convey information to patients and individuals at various organizational levels, both in person and over the phoneRequired - Knowledge and understanding of medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.Required - Knowledge of specific treatment protocols to be utilized.Required - Expertise in communicating with patients and their families with diplomacy and sensitivity. Required - Ability to travel to Santa Monica.
Required - Ability to exhibit flexibility in adjusting to changing demands and requirements of the position. Required - Ability to work flexible hours and possible weekends.
