Job Description:
OHIO UNIVERSITY CHILLICOTHE is hiring a Lecturer of Nursing, non-tenure track, effective 1/13/2014.
Teaching/instruction is the major responsibility of this position. Instruction may be classroom or clinical. Advising and committee work may be required. The ideal candidate identifies needs of learners relative to the objectives of the program.
Specific duties include:
- Utilizes records of previous experiences, personal interviews, and observations.
- Assists learners to identify their own learning needs.
- Develops plans for learning experiences.
- Selects and organizes learning experiences which will assist learners to meet relevant program's learning outcomes.
- Works with others to choose and organize learning experiences which are consistent with learning outcomes.
- Plans within the educational unit, with nursing service and allied groups for the learning experiences of students that maximize safe care of clients/patients.
- Determines, selects, and organizes facilities, equipment, and materials necessary for learning. Prepares course syllabi, exams, class handouts, online materials, audiovisual materials, etc. as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's in Nursing by the time of the appointment (January 2014) from an approved school of professional nursing.
- Eligibility for Ohio RN license and any other state where supervision of students is required.
- At least three years of experience in the nursing profession.
- Evidence of participation in professional organizations and in relevant community activities.
- The ability to develop professional relationships with administration, faculty, students, and personnel of agencies.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to give and receive constructive suggestions.
- Keeps current on clinical practice issues and skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant clinical experience with Nursing Foundations and Medical/Surgical nursing
Preference given to applicants with a PhD or DNP and 3 or more years teaching experience in nursing education.
- Clinical teaching experience.
