Master’s degree in Nursing
Recent experience in a clinical setting (within the last five years) or current California Board of Registered Nursing instructor approval
Eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in California
Experience as a nursing educator in didactic or clinical courses in postsecondary nursing programs
Commitment to and/or experience in educating a diverse student population
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
An advanced practice specialization (NP or CNS) in Psychiatric Mental Health, Adult/Geriatric, or Women’s Health Care
National Certification as appropriate to clinical or functional area
A doctorate in Nursing
Demonstrated potential for/or record of scholarly/creative activity
Demonstrated ability to teach in more than one clinical area
Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of theory and clinical courses
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-teaching, collegial setting
Current knowledge of clinical practice issues
Previous experience in curriculum development and instructional technology
Previous experience in nursing leadership or management
Experience in community service activities
Specialization in content areas such as pathophysiology and pharmacology
Duties
Teach didactic and clinical courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level
Participate in curriculum development and course assessment
Participate in student recruitment and retention
Advise nursing majors
Serve as a member of thesis, directed project, and comprehensive examination committees
Serve on school, college, and university committees
Serve as a liaison between clinical agency personnel and the School of Nursing
Other duties as assigned by the School Director
