Overview:

Miller-Motte College in Fayetteville is seeking a part-time Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor. Interested candidates should be a North Carolina Registered Nurse and be available for evening hours.


The Instructor is responsible for providing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to gain employment in their training field. Every instructor plays an important dual role as a member of the instructional staff and as an advisor to students. Instructors are responsible for maintaining professional competence, for keeping personal knowledge current, for participating in departmental and campus-wide activities, for developing a positive and active learning environment in the classroom for students, and for delivering and assessing established program competencies and outcomes. To accomplish this goal, all instructors utilize their talents, skills, and abilities in a coordinated and consistent team effort under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Education, Program Director, or his/her designee.


Qualifications:


Candidates must hold a Master's degree in a related field and have


experience either working as or with Medical Assistants. CMA or RMA


certification is preferred.


Responsibilities:


Duty 1: Institutional Duties


Responsibility:


A. To the school


1) Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all school policies, and adhere to and uphold their implementation and enforcement.


2) Meet faithfully all assigned classes.


3) Assist in maintaining a safe environment for all students, faculty, and staff.


4) Safeguard materials, records, and equipment.


5) Participate in campus-wide initiatives in support of recruitment, retention, graduation, and other institutional effectiveness goals on an individual and team basis.


6) Attend school functions including staff meetings, in-service training, faculty meetings, orientation, graduation, and special student activities and school events as required. Serve on standing committees as appointed.


7) Ensure a commitment to interdepartmental cooperation.


8) Provide advance notification regarding lateness, absence, and vacation schedules. When voluntary termination occurs, instructors are requested to complete the term in which they are teaching whenever possible or, at minimum, to provide two weeks notice.


9) Accept additional related duties as assigned by the Director of Education or his/her designee.


B. Administrative


1) Maintain and post office hours for the purpose of student advisement and tutoring. The schedule should include Friday hours as assigned for full-time faculty members.


2) Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student progress, performance, and attendance as required by school policy and procedure.


3) Maintain appropriate confidentiality when working with students, records, and administrative staff.


4) Contact via telephone absent students on a daily basis.


5) Submit mid-term and final student grades per school policy.


6) Maintain flexibility in fulfilling the instructional needs of the school.


C. Curriculum & Instruction


1) Participate in the curriculum development and monitoring process.


2) Make recommendations for additions to, or upgrading of, curriculum, course materials, equipment, and textbooks.


3) Recommend library/resource center acquisitions; assist the Librarian in culling the library collection.


4) Share course materials and insights with other faculty members.


5) Participate in Advisory Board meetings.


6) Keep up-to-date and in contact with local employers regarding appropriateness of course/program content.
