The Division of Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2014 to teach in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program with CCNE accreditation. The undergraduate curriculum of the Pitt School of Nursing combines the latest in clinical theory with traditional nursing values that emphasize holistic patient care, and gives students the opportunity to combine a strong theoretical base of biological and behavioral sciences with a foundation in the liberal arts. Successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching baccalaureate level didactic and clinical courses in foundations of nursing and medical-surgical nursing to students enrolled in the 4-year program; may also teach in School Nurse Certificate Program. Additional teaching responsibilities as part of standard 12 credit/semester workload will include on-campus nursing skills and simulation laboratory instruction. Faculty are expected to meet the teaching, scholarship, and service requirements of the Johnstown campus and the nursing program. Examples include but are not limited to excellent teaching skills and ability to evaluate students in the classroom and clinical settings, course development and curriculum evaluation, student advisement, active participation in professional development including contribution to the nursing literature and involvement with professional nursing organizations, participation on department, college, and School of Nursing committees, and service to the Johnstown campus and local community. Doctoral degree in nursing or related discipline required; Pennsylvania state RN license and master's degree in nursing required with expertise in specialty clinical area. Candidate must possess current clinical knowledge and skills and a passion for participating in the education of the next generation of registered nurses. Must evidence proficiency with technology and commitment to innovative and evidence-based nursing education. Preference given to candidates with previous teaching experience at the baccalaureate level, including teaching with simulation, established program of nursing scholarship, and recognition of expertise in specialty area, eg., School Nursing, Certified Nurse Educator.
