The Search

The School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio is one of five schools in a thriving South Texas Medical Center. It is vibrant, growing, and dedicated to serving the South Texas community and beyond. We are committed to excellence in education, research and practice. Research centers such as the Barshop Center for Aging, Cancer Therapy and Research Center, Academic Center for Evidence Based Practice and the Center for Community-Based Health Promotion in Women and Children provide extensive intra- and inter-disciplinary teaching and research opportunities in a multicultural environment. This well established School of Nursing, with over 100 faculty and 11,000 professional graduates, offers BSN, MSN, DNP, and PhD programs of study. Our city's health care systems include Baptist, Christus Santa Rosa, Methodist, and University as well as South Texas Veterans and Department of Defense health care systems, available to provide rich opportunities for collaboration.


We invite doctorally prepared individuals to apply for tenured, tenure track or clinical track positions at junior or senior ranks. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful applicant will receive an appointment in the Department of Health Restoration & Care Systems Management. Faculty in this department hold expertise in restoring adult patient health in the context of complex systems of care. Care Systems Management refers to management and leadership at micro- (unit level), meso- and macro-system levels in accountable care organizations and other caregiver systems in which interprofessional teams deliver care. The Academic Center for Evidence Based Practice is a unique, internationally recognized resource within this department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will include:



  • Pursue a program of scholarship

  • Develop and teach courses across the graduate and/or undergraduate curricula

  • Engage in service to the school, the university community, and the profession


QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have:

  • An earned doctorate in nursing or a master's degree in nursing with a doctorate in a related field at start of appointment

  • Eligibility for Texas RN Licensure

  • Current or recent practice in clinical nursing in areas such as cardiovascular, neuroscience, oncology, or respiratory/asthma nursing, or nursing leadership

  • Experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing education

  • Evidence of or potential for a scholarly trajectory


We are also seeking doctorally prepared candidates with Clinical Nurse Leader certification.
