Job Description:
The Decker School of Nursing (DSON) invites applications for a faculty position with a strong research background focusing within one of the four main themes of the Health Sciences Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAE) (see http://www.binghamton.edu/tae/docs/health-science-themes.pdf). This full-time, tenure-track faculty position is at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2014. We are seeking applicants with expertise in women's health/midwifery.
Salary and benefits are competitive and are commensurate with experience and academic preparation. The School emphasizes teaching and research. We anticipate beginning applicant review in Fall 2013. The position will remain open until it is filled.
The Decker School of Nursing has dynamic educational programs, uses creative and innovative teaching methods and offers research opportunities and support in acquiring funding. DSON is a CCNE-accredited school of nursing and offers the following programs: generic baccalaureate, RN to BSN and Master's degree and Post Master's degree and DNP. Graduate concentrations are available in Advanced Practice Roles of nurse-practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse educator and nurse administrator. Graduate Programs of study include: Adult-Geriatric Primary Care NP, Community Health NP, and Family Psychiatric-Mental Health NP, and Family NP. The Decker School also offers the research degree Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing. The position reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing and the Director of Graduate Programs.
Requirements:
Qualified applicants must hold earned doctorates in nursing or in related fields and be eligible for or currently licensed to practice nursing in New York. The successful candidate will possess strong research interest and capability, as evidenced by an appropriate history of or potential for research and publication in top-tier refereed journals. Collaborative and interdisciplinary qualities of the candidate are essential. Service within the university will include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other assigned responsibilities.
The successful candidate must be nationally certified by ACNM/ACC/AMCB as a CM or CNM and demonstrate activities that promote midwifery on a local, state and regional level. A minimum of two years full scope midwife practice is required. The position requires teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as faculty responsibilities. These activities include, clinical teaching and leadership in program and curriculum development, advising and mentoring of students, supervising clinical experiences occurring in community agencies and conducting regularly assigned site visits to ensure appropriate clinical experiences.
