The School of Nursing in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University has developed a stellar research-intensive/teaching/learning environment for students and faculty alike. A heightened focus on interdisciplinary research and scholarship is driving a faculty hiring initiative at Northeastern, advancing its position amongst the nation's top research universities.


Our School is on a trajectory of excellence with a focus on research and scholarship. The wide range of programs offered by the School of Nursing from baccalaureate through DNP and PhD degrees highlights the responsiveness of the School to the nursing needs in the state, nation, and across the globe.


We are recruiting tenured/tenure-track senior faculty members for two exciting leadership roles:

1) Director of the PhD program and 2) Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies. Both positions call for a doctorally prepared researcher who has either current federal funding or a track record of federal funding with high potential sustainability. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Nursing, these leaders will provide vision and direction to strengthen the research enterprise and to expand and enhance our professional masters programs and our PhD program.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a doctorate degree in nursing or a related field; strong track record of research funding in alignment with the Bouvé College of Health Sciences areas of excellence.

The successful candidate will be a senior faculty member with strong academic background who will be eligible for Associate or Full Professor rank.

Additional Information:

The School of Nursing is situated within the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, the largest health sciences college in the greater Boston metropolitan area. The College has over 3,700 students, 186 full-time faculty and 145 part-time faculty. The College also houses the School of Pharmacy and the School of Health Professions, with departments of physical therapy and speech pathology and audiology, as well as a physician assistant program. Bouvé College is committed to excellence in interprofessional education and research and works closely with other colleges and schools in the University.


The four (4) major research foci for Bouvé College include drug discovery, delivery and diagnostics, urban population health, self-care/self-management, and lifespan healthy aging. Twelve centers/institutes exist within the College affording researchers a multitude of opportunities to advance their scholarship. These centers include the Center for Drug Discovery, Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, Center for Community Health Education Research and Service, Center for Translational Cancer Nanomedicine, Institute on Urban Health Research and Practice, the Critical Care Fellowship Program, New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute, the Barnett Institute of Chemical Analysis and Materials Science, Speech-Language and Hearing Center, "Health in Motion" Van, and the Dietary Assessment Center. These productive and prestigious centers create a very robust environment for research and faculty and student development.


With vast science and health resources, Boston is a unique and dynamic environment within which to engage in collaborative healthcare research. There are a myriad of potential partners such as Boston Children's Hospital, Tufts University, Mass General Hospital, and Harvard University. In addition, Northeastern University is one of three academic partners with the Tufts University and Medical Center NIH Clinical Translation and Scientific Institute which promotes innovative, interprofessional clinical and full-spectrum translational research, with the goal of improving the public's health.


Northeastern University is dramatically accelerating its research capacity, with over 70 new senior researchers recently hired across the university.
