Chair of the School of Nursing

Dillard University, classified by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education as a balanced arts and sciences/professions institution, invites applications for the position of Chair of the School of Nursing. The University is located in the culturally rich and diverse city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Job Description:


Direct the activities of the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing; maintain relationships with clinical agencies and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing; oversee the nursing accreditation process.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Responsible for the administration and promotion of all affairs pertaining to the academic well-being and morale of the School of Nursing. This responsibility involves activities such as: maintaining compliance with Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accreditation standards; scheduling meetings with School faculty; submitting annual reports to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences; counseling and guiding faculty; advising and counseling students; planning curriculum; scheduling; maintaining academic relevancy; all budgetary considerations; recommending faculty leaves, student employees, teaching appointments, travel and expenditures to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences; teach courses. This is a 10-month tenure track position.


Earned doctorate degree in nursing (PhD, DNSc, DNP or EdD), a doctorate degree in nursing education is preferred; registration with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing as a registered nurse; prior experience leading a nursing department or school or some other leadership role within a nursing department/school; demonstrated scholarship in a clinical or administrative specialization; substantial experience in undergraduate education and curriculum development.


Salary and Rank: Salary and Rank are commensuratre with qualifications and experience.
