Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Operations the incumbent is responsible for coordinating with clinical staff and performing associated nursing services. This requires direct nursing care, clinic administration, patient flow coordination and clinical over-site of clinical staff. Interact with staff, patients, faculty, and residents to maximize patient care, patient satisfaction, and physician satisfaction. Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to: adjust staffing on a daily basis to maintain efficient operations, assist in the evaluation process, ensure that JCAHO standards are maintained at all times, maintain yearly staff competencies, and ensure maintenance and upkeep of the facility. The incumbent is responsible for participating in the Quality Assurance process and reviewing staff timesheets for accuracy based on the daily schedule. Incumbent maintains professional standards.
Clinic Administration
In conjunction with the MSOI and Director of Clinical Operations, train and monitor clinical competency of clinical staff in their performance of clinic duties.
Responsible for assuring that all practice operations are in compliance with JCAHO clinical standards (e.g. medications, Quality Assurance, charting, licensing, etc.)
Train all Medical Assistant Staff. Training should include all clinic protocols and completion of patient care competencies.
Participate in the Quality Assurance and audit process, by collecting data from the assigned staff.
Orient staff to pertinent UCLA Departments of Neurology and Nursing standards, policies and procedures.
Maintain JCAHO requirements and necessary paperwork including staff competencies and equipment competencies.
Patient Care Coordination
Triage patient phone calls, work as a liaison with physician specialists to follow up with new and established patients, within LVN scope.
Follow up with patients lab results which are interpreted by the physician or nurse practitioner.
Oversee the timeliness of completing medication authorization and refill requests. Assist patient coordinators on the same.
Address patient complaints on schedules or patient care. Escalate to the MSOI, Director of Clinical operations and/OR Medical Director, as indicated
Oversee weekly auditing of sample medication for expired medications. Responsible for training staff and physicians to maintain sample log.
Job Qualifications Experience working with neurological patient population
Working knowledge of outpatient practice operations
Current California LVN license, IV& Blood Certification
Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform clinical procedures and physical examinations.
Ability to effectively elicit pertinent clinical information such as presenting complaints from patients and referring professional, and make appropriate assignments based on established guidelines.
Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with patients, their families, and general public in a high volume, public setting
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential information using discretion and judgment.
