Summary: Your initial assignment will include teaching, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as applicable; course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; involvement on College and University committees and/or initiatives; as well as duties as assigned. Florida Gulf Coast University is a comprehensive university dedicated to quality education, research, and service. Teaching assignments may be on the main campus or at off-campus sites within our region.


Job Responsibilities:



  • Teaches at the graduate level in NGR 6460 Pharmacology; NGR 6140 & NGR 6144 Advanced Pathophysiology; NGR 6240, 6240L, 6741, 6741L, 6305, 6305L, 6252, 6252L Primary Health Care I-IV. Teaches across other graduate nursing programs. Teaches undergraduate BSN level courses such as: NUR 3056C Health Assessment, NUR 3125 Pathophysiology, NUR 3145 Pharmacology. Conducts clinical teaching and simulation labs and advising. Expectations for scholarship will be those identified for rank as described in the Faculty Performance Evaluation Document (FPED) and College documents. Service to School, College, University, and professional community is expected in the form of committees, accreditation activities, etc.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong communication skills, and computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office.

Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.


Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation. Master's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program. Certified FNP or ANP or AGPCNP. ARNP licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Florida. Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in the Nurse Practitioner role. Teaching experience in higher degree nursing education. Strong communication skills and computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office.


ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 7, 2014. If successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed contract.


Preferred Qualifications: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD. Certified FNP or AGPCNP. Experience as a faculty member in a nursing education program at the College/University level. Evidence of established research leading to professional presentations, research, and/or publications. Service in professional organizations (e.g. membership and/or committee involvement).

Special Instructions: Appointment will be made at a faculty rank commensurate with the candidate's experience on a 12 month multi-year appointment basis available August 2014.
