Position:
Towson University is inviting established scholars and promising junior faculty applicants for full-time, 10-month tenure track positions beginning August of 2014.
Responsibilities:
Undergraduate and graduate instruction; academic advising; scholarly research activities; and university and community service.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising and demonstrate evidence of a program of research eligible for external funding. Applicants are required to have an earned research doctorate in nursing or related field (i.e., Ph.D.or Ed.D.) and Master's degree in nursing with expertise in a respective specialty area. Applicants with expertise in the following areas will be given preference: Psychiatric Mental Health, Maternal-Child and Women's Health, and Adult Health. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland is required. Two years of recent experience in teaching and/or practice related to the candidate's clinical specialty is preferred. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations of students is also preferred. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Academic appointment is commensurate with qualifications. ABD candidates are eligible but appointment will be at the instructor rank. All degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2015.
The Department:
The Department of Nursing is CCNE accredited with approximately 400 undergraduate students. The department offers master's programs in nursing education and nursing administration. There are currently over 100 students enrolled in graduate studies. Post-Baccalaureate/post-Master's certificates in nursing education are available. The Department of Nursing also offers the Baccalaureate and Master's degrees at the Western Maryland Hagerstown campus, a regional center within the University System of Maryland.
