Required Qualifications: Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State and one year of post-licensure acute care* nursing experience. A Bachelor degree in Nursing may be substituted for one year of the experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years O.R. experience in an ambulatory surgery setting. Strong orthopedic and opthalmology scrub and circulating experience. Past experience in a perioperative role. Past experience in pre-op/post op setting, AORN, ASPAN certifications.

Brief Description of Duties: Consistent with the title. Caring for the surgical patient in an ambulatory surgical operating room setting. Must be able to scrub and circulate on all operative procedures and prepare for setting up the surgical suite aseptically. Flexible shift.

Other Duties: As assigned.

Special Notes: Shift: 2 full-time day positions - 11:00 am - 7:30 pm - flexible shift - Monday through Friday. Please note Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment.

• Acute Care is defined as medical services provided for illnesses that are short-term (usually less than 30 days), intense, and have a relatively severe to very severe course, requiring knowledge and expertise in the vigilant monitoring of subtle changes in the patient's condition, as well as ability to quickly recognize and identify potential problems and conditions resulting from a previous disease.
