Required Qualifications: *Possession of or ability to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities during the probationary period.
Preferred Qualifications: NYS Nurse Aide Certification. Certified NA with one year minimum experience.
Brief Description of Duties: Consistent with the title. Performs delegated basic and advanced duties relating to patient care services. Receives direction and guidance for work activities from the registered professional nurse (does not assume independent patient care assignments). Assists the registered professional nurse and performs basic patient care functions such as recording vital signs, assisting patients with bed baths and meals, etc. May be assigned to stay continuously with an assigned Safety Care or 1-to-1 assignment.
Other Duties: As assigned.
Special Notes: Shift: 3 full-time evening positions - 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm - days vary. Please note Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke free environment.

- Acute Care is defined as medical services provided for illnesses that are short-term (usually less than 30 days), intense, and have a relatively severe to very severe course, requiring knowledge and expertise in the vigilant monitoring of subtle changes in the patient's condition, as well as ability to quickly recognize and identify potential problems and conditions resulting from a previous disease.
The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.
