ADMINISTRATIVE NURSE III – UCLA – Los Angeles, CA

Under the supervision of the Director of the UCLA Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research (CPCR), provide clinical care for adult survivors of both adult-onset and pediatric-onset cancers in the outpatient setting as part of the UCLA Survivorship Center of Excellence as well as performing research protocols for men and women on clinical studies managed in the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control Research. The position is a combination of clinical (direct care) and administrative responsibilities. In the Survivorship Center, the ANIII is the first contact for cancer survivor patients, performing initial phone intakes and collaborating with administrative staff to gather patient treatment records to create an accurate and thorough Cancer Treatment Summary, which is presented to the Medical Directors prior to the patient visit. During the survivorship visit, the ANIII documents a complete medical history, performs physical examinations, counsels patients on survivorship care, health promotion and wellness. Following the visit, in collaboration with the Medical Directors, the ANIII documents the patient's Survivorship Care Plan in the UCLA Care Connect System. The ANIII is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with providers in other specialties including but not limited to internal medicine, cardiology, gynecology, physical medicine, pain management and gastroenterology to ensure referrals for survivors to providers who understand cancer survivorship issues. As appropriate, the ANIII also orders tests as directed by the Medical Directors and is responsible for obtaining insurance authorizations using current ICD and CPT codes. The ANIII stays current on medical literature and clinical guidelines in the fields of oncology, women's health, preventative care and cancer survivorship. The ANIII must have expert knowledge of the late effects of pediatric cancer treatment and the Children's Oncology Group Long Term Follow Up Guidelines. To increase provider and patient knowledge of cancer survivorship issues, the ANIII participates in lectures and conferences, both on a national and local level. In research, the ANIII follows study protocol of both international cooperative group and investigator-initiated clinical trials to provide clinical examinations, phlebotomy services, study medications. The ANIII collaborates with the PI and the Senior Research Associate to document study outcomes using Common Toxicity Criteria (CTC).

Skill in performing phlebotomy, taking medical histories, and doing physical exam, including breast exams and digital rectal exams.
