POSITION SUMMARY: Contribute to fulfilling the division mission, primarily by providing instruction of the core curricular courses for the Master of Science in Nursing, thus laying the foundation for further role development of graduate nursing students in their subsequent specialty track. Additionally, the candidate will assist with core curricular revisions, ensuring curriculum coherence and quality.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Teach selected core content (communications, ethics, health policy, biostatistics, epidemiology, research, nursing theory, and/or portfolio development) according to content expertise.

  2. Evaluate student admission and progression in core learning experiences in accordance with established divisional and school policies.

  3. Advise students in achieving the requirements for graduation and/or certification through self-evaluation, career planning and spiritual formation.

  4. Assist with identifying, analyzing, and resolving faculty and student issues in the online educational environment while maintaining confidentiality of vital information.

  5. Participate in mentoring, reviewing faculty instruction, and analyzing the end of course surveys to propose continuous quality improvement of course and adjunct faculty performance.

  6. Ensure coherency of the core curriculum map and alignment of courses with appropriate accrediting and certifying guidelines used in subsequent courses, including, but not limited to the current versions of,

    1. American Association of Colleges of Nursing's (AACN), The Essentials of Master's Education in Nursing . Quality and Safety in the Education of Nursing , Cultural Competencies for Graduate Nursing Students , Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice , Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Competencies in Specialty Areas: Gerontology , End of Life Care , Genetics and Genomics

    2. American Organization of Nurse Executive Competencies .

    3. National League for Nursing, Competencies for Nursing Education .

    4. National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, Core Competencies for Nurse Practitioners



  7. Work with faculty, the Online Coordinator, Support Specialists, and designers in the Center for Learning and Innovation (CLI) to keep core course curricula current and evidence-based.

  8. Participate in program evaluation, analyze and report core courses learning outcomes achievement, and revise courses and instruction accordingly.

  9. Participate in SON and university committees as elected/appointed.

  10. Assist with graduation preparation, and attend graduation/retreat/convocation/and other SON activities, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


Education



  • Earned doctorate preferred (in Nursing or other)

  • Master of Science in Nursing

  • CPR certified

  • Active, unencumbered Indiana license

  2. Course management and the requisite accuracy and attention to detail

  3. Grading using impeccable APA

  4. Ability to work well with a team and yet be able to work independently

  5. Ability to accurately follow instructions

  6. Excellent organizational skills

  7. Excellent word processing, database and spreadsheet skills

  8. Ability to professionally handle confidential information

  9. Excellent phone, APA, written, oral, netiquette, and interpersonal communication skills

  10. Problem-solving skills
